KIVY is the Local Station for the Crockett/Houston County Trade Area.

Always has been.  Always will be. Since 1949, KIVY has been the place to turn for daily coverage of local news, weather and sports, plus special events.  Today, we are still the only daily media outlet whose primary focus is covering the local events in Houston, Trinity and Leon counties.  Our entire morning drive time (6 to 10 am) is devoted to local news and information.  And our broadcast center is located in the heart of our trade area, on the Square in Downtown Crockett.

KIVY is an East Texas Tradition.

We've been broadcasting and serving our communities since 1949.  KIVY was founded by Jim Gibbs, and in our entire history, the station ownership and management has changed only one time.  Leon Hunt is the current owner/general manager.  Leon started his broadcast career in 1974, working part-time at KIVY while attending college.  We live in a rapidly changing world, but we are proud of our heritage.  And just as always, KIVY will continue to be a stable partner that our listeners and advertisers can depend on.

Join Herb Blackmon who gets the week-day mornings going at 6:00 am Monday through Friday for your Farm and Ranch news. Herb brings you important information that helps the Farmers and Ranchers in this area.  Plus, there are interviews with agents from around the listening area to address problems and provide information you may be needing.

KIVY has the Most Popular Morning Team in East Texas.

For 25 years, East Texans were awakened to the familiar voice of Lonnie Hunt.  A lifelong East Texan, Lonnie got listeners off to a good start at 7 o'clock each weekday.  Lonnie departed for the big time of Austin at the end of 2011, but he has been very adequately replaced by Dennis Ivy, another true East Texan!  From 8 to 10 AM things really heat up when the East Texan meets his match when Joanne Warner, a transplanted Cajun, joins Dennis on the air for more fun.  You never know what this pair will come up with next, but one thing is for certain -- you don't want to miss it.

KIVY plays the Best Country Around on 92.7 FM.

After starting the day off with news and information from 6 to 10 am, we play the Best Country Around on KIVY-FM.  (After all, this is Texas!)  Our blend of traditional country favorites plus fresh new songs really lives up to its billing.  KIVY-FM is a regional station with a strong 50,000 watt signal that reaches into more than 20 counties.  However, our primary focus continues to be the residents of Houston, Trinity and Leon counties.

KIVY plays America's Best Music on 1290 AM.

Nothing appeals to America's largest demographic group like America's Best Music! From area high schools to the big leagues, no other station covers the action like KIVY.  In addition to daily network and local sports casts and coaches shows throughout the school year, we are the play-by-play home of all our Houston County teams including, the Crockett Bulldogs, Grapeland Sandies, Lovelady Lions, Kennard Tigers, and Latexo Tigers, along with the Texas Aggies, Texas Longhorns and Texas Rangers, plus other special sporting events.
